Spooky Express Preview Golovkin Heavy Favorite To Retain Middleweight Belt Vs. Rubio There's a fine boxing card on Saturday, Oct. 18, in Carson, Calif., that will be televised by HBO and is headlined by a bout between champion Gennady Golovkin and challenger Marco Antonio Rubio for Golovkin's WBA and IBA world middleweight titles as well as the interim WBC title. Golovkin is one the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world and opened as a huge -10000 Wagerweb favorite with Rubio at +1600. Casual fight fans might not be all that familiar with Golovkin, but they should be. This will be his 12th title defense and if successful Golovkin would join Hall of Famer Marvin Hagler and Felix Sturm for the third-most in middleweight history. Next up is Carlos Monzon with 14 and the record-holder is the ageless Bernard Hopkins with 20. Golovkin (30-0, 27 KOs), of Kazakhstan, has fought five of his last seven fights in the United States and become one of the cornerstone fighters of HBO. He is still be searching for the defining fight he seeks against a big-name opponent. Beating Rubio soundly should get him there. Golovkin dispatched of the highly respected Daniel Geale, a former champion himself, in July. Golovkin dropped Geale (30-3, 16 KOs) in the second round and then again in the third. Geale made it to his feet, but he was quite wobbly and referee Michael Ortega stopped the fight at 2 minutes, 43 seconds. It was Golovkin's 17th knockout in a row and hasn't gone the distance since 2008. "In all my years in boxing, he's the best 160-pounder I've ever seen," said Gary Shaw, Geale's promoter, after the fight. Rubio (59-6-1, 51 KOs) is from Mexico and thus should have the California crowd behind him. Rubio is on a six-fight winning streak. His last defeat was via unanimous decision to then-middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez in February 2012. On April 5, Rubio knocked out Domenico Spada of Italy in the 10th round to claim the vacant WBC belt. Also on the card is a nice matchup between Nonito Donaire and Nicholas Walters to unify their versions of the featherweight world title. Donaire (33-2, 21 KOs), a native of the Philippines who fights out of California, and Walters (24-0, 20 KOs), of Jamaica, are both coming off victories on the same card on May 31 in China. This fight will be Donaire’s third at the StubHub Center. He fought there twice during his 2012 fighter of the year campaign and won both. Donaire is the solid WagerWeb favorite against Walters. There is only hockey tonight. I know there are not many followers of hockey, including myself. There are only a few people who bet hockey from what I have noticed. Do you guys want NHL service plays? Unless there are a bunch of you, I will not be posting them. I will probably be asking the same question once the NBA starts. Lets hear your opinion today. Thank you.

I am all over Central Michigan on Saturday. I got this game on Thursday at C. Mich +6. The line since then has dropped to +4.5. As I predicted last weekend, I see an upset in this game. Last week I predicted USC to upset Stanford at Stanford and that very thing happened. This week I predict another upset with Central Michigan at home getting the points facing the lowly Syracuse OrangeMEN ( I know they are called the Orange now, but I refuse to give in to political correctness). Cuse (1-0) has had 2 weeks off after playing only one game on the season. C. Mich. is 2-0 with no time off. That very thing tells me that the Chippewas have a HUGE advantage (at this point in the season) because it gives them one more game to get the team to "gel" and work the bugs out. The ORANGEMEN (I repeat, I'm not PC) do NOT have that advantage. 2 weeks ago the orangeMEN at home beat the lowly Villanova Wildcats. Last Week, C. Mich. beat the Purdue Boliermakers AT Purdue 38-17. So add it up...Cuse wins by one point at home against a not-so-good-team, yet C. Mich on the road last week whoops ass on Purdue AT Purdue as an underdog. C. Mich has a secondary that is a force to be reckoned with, and the orangeMEN will not be able to handle the Chippewas in this Game. The Chippewas win this game OUTRIGHT in an upset by at least 7 points.

Now that's more like it! Travis Wilson and Kendall Thompson combine for 268 passing yards and 6 TD passes while the ground game balances out for another 258 as the Utes take this one easily from pillar to post! As always thanks and congrats to all that followed and best of luck on Sunday!

USC Trojans (appropriate name for a California team, the land of fruits and nuts) heads to Stanford to meet the Stanford Cardinals on Saturday. The line opened at Stanford -2½ and has moved to -3. Looking at last weeks game people might think that Stanford laid an ass whoopin on UC Davis 45-0. I live 10 minutes from UCD and that team ain't shit, they never have been and they never will be. It goes against the grain of that major liberal college to "hurt" people. I graduated in Davis in '72 and nothing has changed. Looking at USC last week, they beat Fresno State (I live 2 hours from there) 52-13. FSU is a LOT better team than UCD. FSU could beat UCD by the same margin that Stanford did last week. I follow the west coast teams quite a bit, so I am somewhat familiar with them. Stanford is USC's oldest rival, with this series dating back to 1905. USC holds a 59-29-3 series advantage. USC has a better defense than Stanford, Stanford doesn't have the experience (even at home) to cover this line, much less win. I am predicting USC to upset Stanford in a low scoring game. I am taking USC plus the points here in a game I think they will win 24-21. I think this will be the best game to watch on Saturday. If you follow, good luck to us!!!

Warren Moon loses $200K in Miami Heat ticket, ownership scam By John Breech | CBSSports.com January 24, 2014 4:04 pm ET Pro Football Hall of Famer Warren Moon will be heading to New York this week with $200,000 less in his bank account. The former NFL quarterback, who serves as the analyst on the Seahawks flagship radio station, was scammed out of the money by a man who sold him Miami Heat tickets that didn't actually exist. A man named George French Jones approached Moon about buying four courtside tickets and a five percent ownership in the Heat. Moon's agent then wired $200,000 to a bank in Pasadena, Calif., to complete the transaction. Apparently Jones told Moon that if he bought the tickets, it would be viewed as a sort of down payment for the five percent ownership stake, according to MyFoxLA. Unfortunately for Moon, the tickets didn't exist and Jones has disappeared. Both the NBA and the Miami Heat have contacted the FBI to investigate the situation. Jones is also being sued by Moon's company, Sports 1 Marketing, but no one has been able to locate Jones. According to MyFoxLA, Jones also tried to scam at least two other NFL players and may be trying to contact other professional athletes. Moon is finishing his 10th season as the Seahawks' official radio analyst.
