John Elway has to be kicking himself right now. He would clearly like to be rid of QB Tim Tebow when the season is over with, but he knows with each successful play that he runs, the likelihood of removing Tebow gets slimmer and slimmer. Last Sunday, we don’t know how he did it, but he beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 29-23 in overtime on an 80 yard TD pass to WR Demaryius Thomas on the first play of the extra session. Tebow didn’t do anything particularly special, going 10-of-21 on the day, but he did complete some long balls down the field that should have acted as a signal to the Steelers that the possibility of more deep passes were coming. The offense really missed out on a lot of opportunities to put more points on the board early in the game, and the fact of the matter is that the Pittsburgh team that was on the field by the end of the game was really just a bunch of backups. Having to play to OT against a team like that at home in the playoffs wasn’t all that notable in spite of what everyone else wants you to think, and the play that scored the TD was a case of great coaching by John Fox, not a great play by Tebow.

BetOnline.comThe Patriots just have to be licking their chops right now. Instead of drawing the Steelers, a team that had already beaten it this year, New England gets the Broncos, a team that it slaughtered this year. QB Tom Brady knows that this is another one of these games where he can throw for over 400 yards and four TDs if he is on point, and that means that WR Wes Welker and TE Rob Gronkowski could both be in for some big time days. The ground game is always suspect, and you never know which one of the New England backs that you are getting on a regular basis. The Patriots have a secondary problem, but Tebow wasn’t able to exploit that for the full 60 minutes in the first go around of these two teams, and once the pressure really started to get into the backfield, there wasn’t enough time to get the ball off for Tebow when he had to throw the pigskin. The problem is that one of the men that had a big time game against Denver last month, DE Andre Carter was put on IR and is out for the playoffs.

Denver Broncos @ New England Patriots Trends: The Broncos are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 playoff games, and if you take away games against the Indianapolis Colts, that number goes up to 9-2 ATS in their last 11. New England has covered and won two out of three in this series. The last time that the Broncos came to Foxboro though, they were crushed 41-7, and that was with QB Matt Cassel calling the shots, not Brady.
