Kyle Turris, Cory Conacher, and Mika Zibanejad each scored for the Senators in the victory. Zibanejad opened the scoring for Ottawa, finding the back of the net at 11:55 of the third period. The goal was assisted by Chris Neil and Sergei Gonchar.
Craig Anderson stopped 26 of 28 Montreal shots in the victory.
P.K. Subban and Alex Galchenyuk scored for the Canadiens, finding the net behind Craig Anderson.
Carey Price stopped 30 of 32 shots for the Canadiens, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.
On the power play, Ottawa went 0-for-3, while the Canadiens were 0-for-1 with the man advantage.
Montreal lost the shots on goal battle to Ottawa by a margin of 34-28.
