Phoenix Falls 5-4 to Avalanche - Recap

The Coyotes came up short Friday against the Avalanche, falling 5-4 in a shootout. Colorado was an underdog by +150 and came through for bettors backing them. The game went OVER the consensus closing total of 5.5. P.A. Parenteau potted the shootout winner for Colorado. P.A. Parenteau, Patrick Bordeleau, Ryan O'Reilly, and Stefan Elliott each scored for the Avalanche in the victory. Elliott opened the scoring for Colorado, finding the back of the net at 13:45 of the first period. The goal was assisted by Matt Duchene and P.A. Parenteau. Jean-Sebastien Giguere turned in a 27-save effort for the Avalanche. Phoenix got goals from Antoine Vermette (2), David Schlemko, and Rob Klinkhammer in the loss, but it wasn't enough. Mike Smith stopped 24 of 28 shots for the Coyotes, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory. On the power play, Colorado went 2-for-4, while the Coyotes were 2-for-6 with the man advantage. Colorado lost the shots on goal battle to Phoenix by a margin of 37-28. Next game, Colorado takes its act home to face Minnesota looking for another win. For Phoenix, they head on the road to face Anaheim.
