We don't know if it was the chicken or the egg first. We do know that in the world of televised poker, the cart definitely was placed in front of the horse.
Multi-million dollar tournaments, hundred-thousand dollar hands, poker played at venues all over the country, yet nobody ever took the time to teach the poker fan how to really play the game. It is like being given a bat and told to step in against Roger Clemens. Now all that changes as FSN and FullTiltPoker.Net go back to the basics, explaining in a 26-week series, the ins-and-outs of what to do once those two hole cards are dealt.
FULLTILTPOKER.NET PRESENTS: LEARN FROM THE PROS premieres on Tues., Sept. 27 at 8:30 p.m. local, with new episodes airing every Sunday at 4:30 p.m. local and repeats on Tuesdays at 8:30 p.m. local. Hosted by Best Damn Sports Show Period's Chris Rose and poker pro Howard Lederer, the 30-minute show explains the nuances of the most popular game on television. As the series progresses, the pros offer more sophisticated strategy tips and offer up some of the tricks of the trade for winning big pots.
Throughout the series, professional poker players from the FullTiltPoker.Net stable join Rose and Lederer to offer tips and strategy lessons. Players such as: World Series of Poker (WSOP) champion Chris "Jesus" Ferguson, seven-time WSOP bracelet winner and poker legend Erik Seidel, 2004 American Poker Championship winner Phil Ivey, 2002 Card Player Magazine "Champion of the Year" John Juanda, 2003 WPT Aruba Poker Classic winner Erick Lindgren, plus Jennifer Harman, the first woman to ever win two WSOP bracelets and 2003 World Poker Tour Ladies Night champion Clonie Gowen.
The pros take part in roundtable discussions on various poker topics, providing them a rare opportunity to tell some of the "inside" stories that have made them legends in the game.
"There is such a thirst out there for all things poker. We want to help players of all abilities take their game to the next level," said Executive Producer Mark Mayer. "The opportunity to pick the brain of Howard Lederer, Phil Ivey, Chris Ferguson and some of the world's best players is one that every poker enthusiast will want to take advantage of. If you watch this show, you will become a better poker player."
The show goes interactive as it offers viewers the chance to email their questions about how to play a hand or what they should have done in a particular situation and the pros will answer in detail.
Plus:
Chip Tricks: Learn the tricks that make even amateur card players look like pros at the table.
Beginner's Blunders: Covering the most common mistakes made by beginning players and how to avoid them.
Poker Pop Quiz: Tests your knowledge on various poker topics and helps you learn the correct way to play various situations
"The time is right for an entertaining show about poker that is also truly educational," said Lederer, who has won two WSOP bracelets, two World Poker Tour titles as well as many other tournaments. "I am excited to be working with FSN to make this first-of-its-kind poker show." |
