Lance Briggs to sign Lance Briggs might be at Bears camp after all.
A report in the Chicago Tribune, citing a teammate and a league source, says the disgruntled linebacker is expected to sign the one-year tender of $7.2 million and avoid a holdout. The deadline has already passed for the sides to work out a long-term extension and Briggs was expected to hold out up to 10 game in protest.
But his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, and the team continued to talk after the deadline. One possibility is that the team agreed to pay the bulk of his 2007 salary up front and agreed to let him be an unrestricted free agent after this season.
Rosenhaus was unavailable for comment and Briggs declined to speak to the paper. |
