| Superbowl XLI Odds From BoDog News
Ben Roethlisberger's motorcycle accident pushed the Pittsburgh Steelers off the Super Bowl odds charts at most books, at least temporarily. However, you'd think the books would do better to take the Colts, Pats, Broncos, et al. off the list instead of the Steelers.
Those teams, obviously, are the ones that would benefit most if Big Ben isn't able to start the season on time, or isn't able to play up to his capabilities when the campaign gets going. The Steelers' odds certainly didn't improve when Roethlisberger smacked his
helmetless head on that car's windshield, so bettors wouldn't have been flocking to lay down cash on Pittsburgh to repeat as Super Bowl champs over the past week or so.
Regardless of the Steelers' status, however, it's the Indianapolis Colts who continue to be listed as the favorites to win Super Bowl XLI by the Vegas books. Peyton Manning and company sit at 7/2 odds on the current line to finally go all the way and win the big game. They were favored last season too, and we all know that didn't work out for them.
The Patriots right now are listed at 6/1 odds to pick up yet another Super Bowl victory, while the Broncos are getting 10/1 odds from Vegas on the current line. Those teams met in the Divisional Playoffs last season, with the Broncos pulling out a 27-13 victory.
The other two AFC playoff teams from last year, the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Cincinnati Bengals, are farther down the odds list. The Jags, despite finishing 12-4 last season, are still not highly-regarded and are only given 18/1 odds by Vegas to win Super Bowl XLI. The Bengals, with Carson Palmer's health in question, are now at 20/1.
Over in the NFC it's the Seattle Seahawks and the Carolina Panthers who have the attention of Vegas oddsmakers, as both are pegged as the conference's best title bets at 6/1 odds. The Panthers lost to the Seahawks 34-14 in the NFC Championship Game last season, and Seattle would then go on to lose 21-10 to Pittsburgh in Super Bowl XL.
The Redskins, Bears, Buccaneers, and Giants were the other four NFC teams in last year's postseason, and Vegas oddsmakers like their chances in 2006 equally. Each of them are currently listed at 15/1 odds to get past both the Seahawks and the Panthers, and then go on to reclaim bragging rights for their conference with a Super Bowl victory.
Other top Super Bowl contenders according to the Vegas books are the Cowboys (7/1), Chargers (12/1), and Dolphins (18/1). Here is the complete list of current title odds . . .

Gibbs has proved in the past that Deffense +RB and a competent QB he can win

I agree with you here. They lost lavar, but look at this Defense.
RE Andre Carter
LE Philip Daniels
DT Joe Salavea
DT Cornelius Griffin
LB Lemar Marshall
LB Marcus Washington
LB Chris Clemons
CB Shawn Springs
CB Carlos Rogers
SS Adam Archuleta/Peirson Prioleau
FS Sean Taylor-If he doesn't get shot or shoot someone.
That is not a Defense opposing coaches will love to see. |

| Why is everyone so hype on the Cowboys & the Dolphins this year???
I don't see anything spectacular in either team this season.

| All the hype regarding the Dolphins reminds me of the Indians in baseball. They both had late charges at the end of the previous season and now everyone thinks theyre bound for success. Although the Dolphins did add some pieces, one and out in the playoffs would be considered a success; forget the Super Bowl. But, I do think the Cowboys have a shot to be a contender in the weaker NFC. |

| Brunell is going to get injured. He always does. When has he ever played a complete season? The Skins have already lost Ray Brown from their stable of offensive linemen and that will eventually prove costly. And this year when Brunell goes down, and who knows for how many weeks, the Skins are going to start an inexperienced QB. And with the 6 games against the toughest bunch of divisional rivals in the leasue they would probably win only half of those with a healthy Brunell. The loss of Ramsey will take it's toll. So don't count on the Redskins. They've still got problems. |

| I have to agree with nflman on his take on the redskins and was part of the reason that led me to take a shot on the Giants.
I am bit surprised that no one is a believer in the Seahawks out of the NFC again.
