Now the real question is do I have a gambling problem if i'm excited for Pre season week 1

I don't think so, but I can tell you that setting the line on the games yourself (before the book) has more value during the preseason than during the regular season or playoffs for that matter. False favorites according to the Las Vegas oddsmakers (opening lines) are something to beware of during preseason.

2007 exhibition games for example:

Week 3 of the preseason...
Baltimore -3 at Washington, the Redskins won 13-7
Cincinnati -3 at Atlanta, the Falcons won 24-19
Dallas -3 at Houston, the Texans won 28-16
San Diego -3 at Arizona, the Cards covered 31-33

Week 4 of preseason...
Baltimore -3.5 at Atlanta, the Falcons won 13-10
Dallas -3 at Minnesota, the Vikings won 23-14

Altogether, home dogs (on the opener) were 9-0 ATS during the 2007 exhibition games. There were two more during the 2006 games (San Fran and Houston) to raise the streak to 11-0 ATS. And if you can count the Giants (+3 vs. NY Jets) you're at 12-0 ATS with 11 straight up winners!!!

I haven't even looked at the 2005 results yet...

Okay, in week 4 2005 there were three more home dogs (on the opener) they went 2-0-1 and that's about it for that trend (week 1 had a loser)
