Steelers at Rams Pick and Preview NFL Bettting Preview
Pittsburgh Steelers (9-5) at St. Louis Rams (3-11)
Thursday, 8:15 pm Eastern NFL Network
SBG Global Current Line: Steelers - 9 , Total 45.5
The Pittsburgh Steelers suddenly look vulnerable in the AFC as they are coming off two straight losses. They are now tied with Cleveland at the top of the AFC North but they hold the tiebreaker against the Browns. If the Steelers win their last two games they will clinch the division. Their chances of doing that should be pretty good considering they play two last place teams starting with the St. Louis Rams on Thursday. They finish with the Baltimore Ravens. SBG Global reports that early NFL betting has the public taking Steelers on the Road.
Pittsburgh is coming off a 29-22 loss to Jacksonville at home Sunday and that is one week after getting thumped by New England 34-13. Another problem for Pittsburgh is that they have not been entirely focused when playing some of the worst teams in the league. They have lost games against Arizona, Denver and the Jets. "Do we feel good about where we are right now? Absolutely not," said Pittsburgh coach Mike Tomlin, "That's the mental toughness of this game - you have to stay singularly focused and in the tunnel. Every team faces trials and tribulations."
SBG Global Current Line: Steelers -7.5 , Total 43.5
The Steelers will try and contain Rams running back Steven Jackson, who has rushed for 862 yards and five touchdowns this season. Jackson had 143 yards last week in the loss to Green Bay. The Steelers will also have to stop quarterback Marc Bulger who has been in and out of the Rams lineup with injuries this season. The major problem for the Rams has been a defense that has been terrible. They rank 27th in the NFL in scoring defense, allowing 24.9 points per game. They will be facing a Pittsburgh offense that is averaging 23.6 points per game. The two teams have not played since 2003 when St. Louis won 33-21 at Pittsburgh.
