What a boring week in college football as I split everything….best bets, strong plays, regular plays and even opinions. Only down less than a unit for the year in college football. I don’t think I have done very well at all in college and can do better, so only being down what I am is acceptable with the way I have been picking. College usually my strong sport, but I am winning this year in the nfl. Strange year so far. Lets try this again.

Rutgers +6.5 vs Pittsburgh (best bet)………………..I have been going against Pitt recently and I have been losing. The only decent team pitt played this year is Mich State and they got pounded. Rutgers is having a dream season (at least for them) and you have to be impressed with last weeks shutout at Navy. Pitt still struggles against good teams. I am shocked this line is 6.5 and not 2.5 or 3. I really love this play and put it in on Tuesday because I know the line was going to drop. I think Rutgers wins this game outright. This might be my strongest play in college football this year, but I said at the start of the season that three units will be my highest play and I am sticking to it.

Alabama +11 vs Tennessee (best bet)……….I am not a big believer in trends and stats, but the visitor in this series has cashed 13 of the last 14 times. These teams just seem to play well on the others home field. In addition to that, Bama always plays better when they are a dog and not given much of a chance. Alabama does not want to get into a shootout with this team or they will get blown out. I think their defense keeps them in this the whole game. Tennessee is also always good for one game a year that they are supposed to win and lose outright. There is always one big upset and this one could be it. No I am not calling for an outright win, but the eleven points looks might fine to me. Tennessee wins 17-13.

Syracuse +17 vs Louisville (strong play)……………..This is not the Cuse team of old, that was nearly impossible to beat at home, but they are headed in the right direction after a few years of sucking. Syracuse believes they can win games and this is way too many to be getting at home. Louisville, like Tennessee above, is known for messing up games they shouldn’t. I am telling you now the Louisville needs to play nearly a perfect game to cover this big a spread on the road vs an improved Orangeman team. I almost made this a best bet as well, but I am trying to stick to just two per week.

Georgia Tech +7.5 vs Clemson (strong play)………….Another real strong trend in this one as the dog has covered the last ten games. I really don’t believe in many trends and I usually don’t play them, so I don’t know what is making me do it this week. Maybe it is because I am not winning like I normally do in college football. When these two get together it is usually a close game, no matter whos field it is on. Tech is another one of those teams like Alabama when you get them as a dog they play better, but you cannot trust them as a favorite. Well, they are the dog this week and I love getting the hook at the end of the seven…just in case.

S Carolina -3.5 vs Vanderbilt (regular play)………….The only reason this line is this low is Vandy’s upset of Georgia last week, so I believe we get a ton of value with the gamecocks this week. You also have the potential letdown for Vanderbilt. This game will be close, at least for a while since it is at Vandy, but S Carolina is definitely the better team here and it will show in the final score. S Carolina wins by 7-14 points.

UCLA +13.5 vs Notre Dame (regular play)……….This is simply a play against Notre Dame. I really get sick of hearing about Notre Dame. Yes they are a pretty good team, but they are not one of the elite teams. They just get way too much respect because they are Notre Dame. UCLA is not a bad team at all and when two programs like this get together, anything can happen. Getting almost two TD’s with a pretty good UCLA squad vs an over rated Irish team sounds pretty good to me.

OPINIONS (just for fun, no units)

Connecticut +22 vs W Virginia (FRIDAY)………Hoping that U Conn’s running game can eat up some of the clock and keep this under the number.

Virginia -6 vs N Carolina (THURSDAY)……..Virginia showing some signs of life, while Carolina is just a bad team this year.

Indiana +30 vs Ohio State……..Indy believes in itself now and how can OSU take this team seriously. They can sleep walk through this one. Thirty is a lot of points.

S Mississippi +17 vs Virginia Tech…………Tech is over rated and it is not like S Miss sucks. They have the same record.

Boston College/Florida State………No line on this game as I type this. If I can get BC +6 or more, I will take it, otherwise ignore this play. This Florida State team is not what we are used to seeing.

I am pretty much breaking even in college football this year. I still have not had the great week that I have been looking for. I feel pretty good about these picks, but I always feel pretty good about my picks. Who wouldn’t? That is why we bet on them. We will find out Sunday morning when I total it all up.

Good Luck Everybody!!
