OVERALL FOR THE YEAR

Best Bets (5-2)(+8.40 units)
Strong Plays (1-5)(-9.00 units)
Regular Plays (4-5)(-1.50 units)

Overall (10-12)(-2.10 units)

OPINIONS (8-5) just for fun, no units

Nice first week in college football, not a good week in college in week two. I guess I got my share of plays in and am only down a little over two units. I can live with that. I think it takes three or four games to get a feel of how a team is going to do for the whole season. Tennessee looked great in week one and was lucky to beat Air Force in week two. Cal sucked week one, looked great week two. I think we may see the real teams show up in week three, at least I hope so.

Thursday Night

West Virginia -17 vs Maryland (opinion)………….No money on this one for me, but how could I not at least have an opinion on a Thursday night TV game. I think WVU needs to blow this team to have a chance to “win it all” this year. Tonight is their first opportunity to do so and I think they will.

Friday Night

Kansas +4 vs Toledo (opinion)………..Same as above, just throwing my voice out there to be heard on this one. Many people might jump on the 0-2 team giving the 2-0 team points, but I am not sold on these MAC teams like in years past. I think the public has caught up with these MAC teams giving bigger conference teams fits. Yes Toledo is a tough place to play, but I say Kansas pulls out a win in this one.

Saturday Games

BYU +7 vs Boston College (best bet)………………I really do not think that this Boston College team is as strong as teams in years past. On the other hand, I feel this BYU team is more like the teams they used to have that always went 10-1. From what I have read, their QB this year is more in the BYU mold of what BYU Qb’s uses to be. I think BC’s defense is not as good as years past and this explosive BYU offense will put some points on the board. Seven is a lot to give to an offense like this. I would not be shocked to see an outright win by the cougars here, but I will me more than happy if they only lose by six or less.

Connecticut -5.5 vs Wake Forest (best bet)………..Wake was lucky to beat a pretty bad Duke team last week, so how good can this 2-0 team be? I am sure they are a decent team at home, but now they are going on the road for the first time this year and U Conn is a tough team to beat at home, unless you are some upper echelon team in the league. I think this team flies under the radar a little bit going unnoticed. I think U Conn will churn out a lot of yards on the ground and slowly beat down this Wake Forest team and win by at least 13 points. U Conn pounded Wake at Wake last year, so I think the mental edge has to go with them as well. The are confident and it will show in a game they win much easier than most people might think.

Michigan State +2.5 vs Pittsburgh (strong play)…………I have been a pitt fan my whole life and I am not sold on them yet. Despite the 2-0 start and what appears to be a pretty good offensive team, I think they still have troubles. Their first problem is coach Dave which you will here me complain about all season long. I read where Pitt has 5 or 6 touchdowns of 50 yards or better. That is very misleading. It is not because of a great QB or great receivers, it is because of blown coverages. Take away those and you would have two close games vs very average competition. I believe Pitt only had 13 first downs in each of their first two games, that does not sound like an offensive powerhouse to me. Pitt is a very misleading 2-0 and they will be 2-1 after Saturday. I almost hope I am wrong being a pitt fan, but I don’t think I am.

TCU +1.5 vs Texas Tech (strong play)…………….Strange line. TCU ranked higher, they are playing at home, yet they are the underdog. Usually this is a red flag and most people would jump on the lower ranked team. That has always been a huge trend when a lower ranked team is giving the higher ranked team points, but don’t you think the bookmakers know who people take in games like that and it may be time to switch things up a bit to confuse the bettors? That is just my crazy theory. Tcu is a great home team and in this case they are the better team who will win this game. It should be a shootout like most people are predicting. Sometimes the obvious teams do win and my money is on the obvious team in this one.

Auburn -3 vs LSU (regular play)…………..I love this game, but I am scared to death of it, so it is only a regular play for me. I really like this Auburn team and when the line came out at three, I really loved it. I am shocked at how many people are on LSU. Most believe they are simply the better team and will win. I think just the opposite. Auburn at home, that is the key, is the better team and they will get a hard fought win something like 17-10.

Florida State -5 vs Clemson (regular play)………….Here is another one I really love but it scares me to death. Once again the key being home field. We all know Clemson in Death Valley is hard to beat, but this one is not there. Ignore that Florida State/Troy game. Do you really think FSU is that bad? Come on. FSY by at least seven.

Baylor +13 vs Washington State (regular play)…………I just feel that giving the Baylor offense almost two touchdowns is a bit too much here. From what I have read, they have a passing game that can be hard to defend. It is not like they are playing USC here either. I don’t see Baylor winning this game by no means, but I see a shootout and the points coming into play. My gut instincts tell me Wash State 42-31.

OPINOINS (just for fun, no units)

Iowa State +14 vs Iowa…………Rivalry, anything can happen. Great offense getting two touchdowns looks pretty good to me.

San Diego State +14 vs Wisconsin…………SD State has a history of giving teams like this all they can handle. Think I will go with history on this one. Badgers also known for playing at the level of their compition.

Tennessee +3.5 vs Florida……….Gators not in the swamp here. Tenny won as a home dog in week one, I think they can do it again.

Miami-Florida +4 vs Louisville……….Too many people calling for a Louisville blowout for me. I say Miami upsets them in this one.

S Mississippi -2.5 vs NC State…………Wolfpack in for a long season. This team has really fallen a few pegs.

Vanderbilt +6 vs Arkansas………..Vandy is 0-2, but they have been competitive this year. Now they are a home dog and just might get that first win.

It looks like I am betting too many games, but consider my opinions are just for fun and it cuts down my total plays to a reasonable amount. Just hoping to get back on the plus side after this Saturday. It is a long season, no need to panic.

Good Luck Everybody!!

Nice writeup!

I like the picks although we disagree a bit.

BYU/BC: I wanted to stay away from this game as it could go a weird weird way. BYU could potentially be bad travelling that far to Boston. I havent' been paying too much attention to BYU this year, but I caught a BC game and their offense is for real. This will definitely be a shootout or a one-sided game toward BC. GL here though!

Uconn: UConn is one of those up and coming teams. Again here I havent' caught too much except knowing last season. If they're good as last year, I wouldn't be surprised for them to take Wake. Good bet here. All thumbs from here.

MS/Pitt: This game looks like a coinflip really in my opinion. Both teams are not spectacular and I can't tell who's honestly better after 2 weeks. This is probably why we let these teams play it out GL on this.. MSU made me some money last week

TCU/TT: I think this is another coinflip depending on TCU's performance. Homefield should help but TT has a good offense despite the 2 weeks. I'm leaning toward TT here but I have no money riding, so best of luck!

LSU/Auburn & FSU/Clem
Don't have money on the LSU game but I do it have on Clemson. I think both of these games are going to be upsets...actually I think this weekend will have ALOT of upsets (as I said in my post). FSU imho is extremely overrated..in the fact that they only have a defense....one of the best....they say defense wins championships...not this one. They'll just have very low scoring games. I'm ramblin here... both of these games will great to watch ultimately. Clemson will surprise people... *sigh*

WashSt/Baylor: I got money riding here and what sold me was the fact it's home for WSU and that's it. I see a blow out here really. But we'lll see. GL

I'm calling for the Tennesse upset here too Living in FL, I'm pretty sick of hearing how great the Gators are :P

- Funny how it's Miami who's going to upset Louisville...that tickled me a bit as well

GL Jill this weekend.

I'm still reviewing some games and stats.

I like Miami in this spot, that D is prolly one of the best in the nation and L-Ville will NOT see another D like that all season. They do have a history of playing Miami well of late, I don't see Brohm being able to do much and I don't see L-Ville up being able to run the ball either.

If the game is low scoring, I give it Miami and I believe you will not see much scoring...

If L-Ville is for real, they'll punch Miami in the mouth and not let recover from it.

Some of the other games you mentioned just aren't hard to figure out...

Mich St took an in-state rival seriously and I was rewarded with a victory. But can they keep that going vs Pitt? With ND coming up AT home, I think they are looking to continue and Pitt looked horrible with Tyler Pliko vs Cinni. Its just Cinni couldn't find any sort of offense to make it competitive after rotating QB's

Mich St smashes and smashes good, Pitt fans better just look forward to Sunday's because I don't think Pitt can beat Rutgers and its going to be a long season and not enough Temples to play in a season.

I'm going to start my own thread... lol
