Hey UMD!
The key might be Washington on defense...check this out..
"We have nothing," center Max Unger said. "We have to prepare for everything."
The No. 21 Ducks have something: the confidence in knowing they put 55 points on the Husky Stadium scoreboard last season. Beyond that, the youthful Huskies defense is a mystery, and that's just one of the unfamiliarities surrounding Saturday's season opener between schools that have met 100 times before.
Ed Donatell is Washington's new defensive coordinator, a position he most recently held with the NFL's Atlanta Falcons in 2004-06. The Ducks don't even know for sure whether Donatell, who was a special assistant for the New York Jets last season, is going with a 3-4 or a 4-3 defense inside the Huskies' closed practices.
"It's as unknown as you can get," Oregon offensive coordinator Chip Kelly said. "We've broken down all the Falcons tape, but there's nothing else to go on."
So Kelly, known for being daring, flexible and innovative, might not reach too far into his bag of tricks against the Huskies, who are coming off a 4-9 season -- not in the first quarter, at least.
"It's going to be a chess match a little bit, kind of feeling and poking and prodding early in the game," Kelly said.
It's going to be fun WOO HOO!!!!
