Minnesota Lynx at San Antonio Silver Stars (-6, 148)
It’s been a bumpy road for the Lynx this season. They didn’t pick up a win until their eighth game of the season, but they’ve covered in five of the last seven.
“With a young team, you can be real good one night and then scratch your head the next night,” Minnesota coach Don Zierdon explained after Friday’s 78-76 victory over the Seattle Storm.
San Antonio was enjoying a four-game win streak until the Houston Comets crashed the party. The Silver Stars lost by eight in Houston on Tuesday night despite a 32-point performance from Becky Hammon.
Hammon will have more help from her teammates tonight.
Pick: Silver Stars
New York Liberty at Los Angeles Sparks (-4 1/2, 140)
Sparks coach Michael Cooper has done a great job of getting the most out of his team. Marta Fernandez and Sherill Baker have played well above expectations.
“Marta’s been great for us,” Cooper said after beating the Sacramento Monarchs 74-66 on Wednesday. “She’s deceptively quick. Her rhythm is not the type of rhythm that Americans are used to looking at.”
The WNBA rookie was the 2006 Spanish League MVP before joining the Sparks.
Beating a quality team like Sacramento was even more impressive considering Los Angeles’ was without Taj McWilliams-Franklin. The Sparks' best post player missed the contest because tightness in her right hamstring.
The wheels have fallen off the Liberty bandwagon. The team has dropped and failed to cover in seven of the last nine
