NEW YORK At Chicago
Stephon Marbury has been known to play through all kinds of bumps and bruises. However, the New York point guard could see his streak of 280 consecutive games end Wednesday at Chicago.
Marbury sprained his left shoulder Monday after taking what he termed a 'dirty' pick from Minnesota's Wally Szczerbiak. Though New York's floor leader returned to the court after icing the shoulder, he asked coach Larry Brown to remove him from the game 26 seconds later.
The Knicks went on to lose to the Timberwolves, 96-90. It was New Yorks second straight setback following a six-game winning streak.
Jamal Crawford's scoring drought coincides with New York's recent mini-slump. Crawford has scored just 16 points in the last two games after tallying at least 20 in four straight outings.
Chicago seemed to be ready to make its move after winning three straight on the heels of an eight-game slide. The optimism apparently was misguided since the Bulls have dropped their last three, including a pair at the United Center.
The Windy City has been anything but sweet for Chicago. The Bulls have lost seven of their last nine at home and have failed to cash in six of eight as favorites.
New York whipped Chicago in the initial clash this season as one-point home favorites, 109-101. Three of four series battles last season were decided by two points or less. The Knicks have 'covered' four of six versus the Bulls on the road.

WIZARDS at MAGIC
Washington has won and cashed four straight for the first time this season and it has prevailed in four of its last five on the highway. Orlando returns to TD Waterhouse after dropping four straight on the road and seven of eight overall. The Magic gained revenge for a road loss against the Wizards in the first clash this season with a win as two-point home dogs in the last encounter, 91-83. Orlando has 'covered' 11 of 14 versus Washington, getting the cheddar in six of seven at home. The Magic have won four straight at home and cashed three straight as home chalk. Four of the last five series battles have been on the low side. Orlando has topped the total in 11 of its last 12 games. The Wizards have headed in the opposite direction in six of seven outings.
NETS at 76ERS
New Jersey bounced back Monday after three straight setbacks to nip Indiana at home, 97-92. The Nets had won six of seven and cashed seven straight against Philadelphia until losing as 5 1/2-point home favorites in the first showdown this season, 107-95. The 76ers have alternated wins and losses in their last four games, taking it on the chin Monday at Washington, 104-76. Six of the last nine confrontations have eclipsed the total, including five of six at the Wachovia Center.
CATS at PACERS
Charlotte has cashed its first five against Indiana, getting the money in its last visit this season as 13-point dogs while losing, 93-85. The Bobcats trounced the Pacers at home in the initial series test as 7 1/2-point dogs, 122-90. Charlotte has lost four straight and seven of its last eight while playing with a makeshift lineup and it has dropped three straight as road dogs. Indiana has alternated wins and losses in its last six games and is coming off a loss Monday at New Jersey. The Pacers have won and 'covered' six of their last eight at Conseco Fieldhouse. Four of the last five showdowns have been on the low side. The Bobcats have flown 'over' in seven of their last eight while Indiana has been on the low side in six of eight.
T-WOLVES at CELTICS
Boston has lost five of its last six and two straight at home. Minnesota seems to have righted the ship, winning and cashing three straight following a 1-5 stretch. The Timberwolves have 'covered' six of their last seven. They have come up short in four of six versus the Celtics, though the club has won and cashed two of three in Beantown. Five of six series battles have topped the number.
GRIZZLIES at HORNETS
New Orleans has won three straight and seven of 10 since Dec 28. The Hornets will be looking to avenge a loss at Memphis as eight-point dogs in the initial test this season, 89-73. MAVERICKS at ROCKETS
Dallas won but failed to cash in the first meeting versus Houston as 9 1/2-point home favorites, 102-93. That continued a stretch where the Rockets have cashed at a 5-1-1 clip versus the Mavericks. Houston has dropped six straight and it is now 0-12 this season without Tracy McGrady in the lineup. The Rockets have lost six straight at the Toyota Center. BUCKS at SPURS
Milwaukee has been blown out of the building in its last three trips to San Antonio, bowing by 13, 15 and 15 points respectively. The defending champs won't take the Bucks lightly after dropping the first meeting at the Bradley Center as 4 1/2-point favorites in overtime, 109-107. The Spurs have been a poor investment at home, where they have dropped four straight and seven of 10 as favorites. However, Milwaukee has been no bargain on the road, falling short in five of six chances as underdogs.
CAVS at NUGGETS
Cleveland has lost four straight for the first time this season. Denver returns home after winning back-to-back road games versus Milwaukee and Chicago. The Nuggets have 'covered' seven of their last eight. The Cavaliers took care of business in the first meeting of the season as 4 1/2-point home favorites, 94-85. Cleveland has lost and failed in two of three at the Pepsi Center, getting the green in its last visit as 4 1/2-point dogs, 92-73.
RAPTORS at BLAZERS
Toronto played Tuesday at Utah. Portland has been idle since winning its third straight at home Sunday versus Cleveland, 89-87. The Blazers have split 12 games since Dec. 23 with two three-game winning binges sandwiched around a six-game skid.
