WNBA - 657 Los Angeles Sparks @ 658 Minnesota Lynx

Today is the final day of the WNBA before the Olympics break. Yesterday we had a split in our plays 1-1, with the lost pick being the over in Sacramento vs Indiana, where the teams simply refused to score in the last quarter of the game. For today I have 3 picks, with one of them being my totals game of the year, which is classified as a 5 units pick and I remember I’m 2-0 in my 5 units plays this season and my GOY in the NBA, where my play was a 5,5 dog which won outright by 10 points. But let’s comeback to this game.

The Lynx receive LA today in a very important game for both teams, as they are really close to each other in the standings (LA 14-12; Minny 13-12). However these two teams are coming from different phases, as Minny is coming from a winning streak of 2 games, while LA has exactly done the opposite by having lost their last two games. If you remember I took LA +5,5 in their last game at New York and we cashed the spread, but unfortunately we lost the ML in the last moment of the game. The Sparks were down by 11 points in the last quarter of the game, but they rallied back and took the lead, just to lose it with just 6 seconds to go in the game. Curiously the motives why I took them at that game are the same ones why I’m be taking them once again today.

If in the game against the Liberty the reason was the brawl suspensions of their big three in Connecticut, for today’s game, besides that, the team is coming from a defeat in the last seconds of the game, which will make the players come fired up for this game. Just like against the Liberty, this will be once again a revenge game for the Sparks, as the team lost at home against the Lynx by 70-88 and believe it or not, these two defeats were in a row and both in the same way: the team disappeared in the fourth quarter, being outscored by 32-15, in a game which was 55-56 at the end of the third quarter.

Minnesota comes from a big win over the best team in the league: San Antonio. They look ready to get a good run in here, but once again I remember the lack of consistence which characterizes this league so well, especially Minnesota, as they haven’t won three games in a row, since they started the league with a 5-0 run. A letdown is probable for them, as both wins have come with them being the underdog. Also the numbers don’t lie. They are 0-7 ATS off a win by 10 points or more over a division rival over the last 2 seasons, 3-12 ATS after a win by 10 points or more over the last 3 seasons and 4-14 ATS in home games after 2 or more consecutive wins since 1997.

The team of LA will make their bounce back today, with Candace Parker coming back to her real level, after a poor game at NY for her standards, shooting just 4-10 FG. I like the fact the Sparks are the dog in here, as we have a lot of value on them today and once again I’ll make a small bet in the ML which is around +135. I remember LA is 9-2 ATS revenging a loss where opponent scored 75 or more points this season. Take the Sparks in here.
