You have to love a little hazing for the Rookie ...
It wasn't a case of cheaper by the dozen for Joakim Noah, who began Monday by bringing the team veterans the wrong doughnuts as part of the rookie's right of initiation.
But Noah finished the day by putting his money where his mouth was during the team's workout.
''It wasn't even my day,'' Noah said of the Dunkin' Donuts delivery instead of the team's preferred Krispy Kremes. ''They looked very upset. That was one of the problems. They don't say Dunkin' Donuts, they just say, 'We don't do Dunkin' around here.'
''Actually I did something I shouldn't have done on the court -- started talking trash a little bit. [The veterans said], 'Oh yeah, talk trash, we'll take your per diem.'''
Coach Scott Skiles is hoping Noah's actions speak as loud as his costly words when the Bulls begin preseason play tonight in LaCrosse, Wis., against the Milwaukee Bucks.
''What [Noah] does, he does well,'' Skiles said. ''He's a good ball-handler, he's a good passer. He's going to be a very good defender. He just has an awful lot to learn like any other rookie. It's just going to come down to how quickly [he picks up] the things we are trying to do.''
