I love this number. Both pitchers were knocked around pretty good their last time out. Schmidt has been very bad in three of his last four starts. His last time out was against Toronto and he gave up 9 hits and 6 earned runs in 4 innings of work. Ouch! I have always been a big fan of Jason Schmidt, however his better days are behind him. The Angels were shut down last night and they will look to explode today vs. Schmidt. I really think they cover the total of 8.5 by themselves.
If the Angels cant score 9 runs no worries! The Dodgers get to face an unhealthy Jered Weaver. He left his last start in the 3rd inning with back soreness. He had given up 5 hits and 3 runs in three innings. I dont think he will be 100% and even if he is the Dodgers should get to him. He shouldnt feel real comfortable out there and I wouldnt expect his best stuff.
Everything stacks up for a high scoring affair. I will gladly play over 8.5 runs for 2 units!
