Friday's Plays The Brutality continues! We went 2-2 yesterday for a + 0.19 units, however had The Mets not blown the lead in the ninth, and had the Dodgers not melted down in the 9th giving away a 4-run lead we would have profited 5.05 units! Of course this is frusterating, but we will stay unemotional about the outcomes as always, as our overall units remain constant, greener pastures are surely ahead. Venting aside, our season record is now
47-32 59.4%, for a + 20.76 Units. 1-0 on guarantees, 0-1 on gut checks. I for one am excited about interleague play, we'll soon find out if it pays off.
Friday's Plays:
-133 Clevelend over the Reds. Homer Bailey makes his debut for the Little Red Machine against one of the most potent lineups in baseball. Although the Indians have been struggling of late, look for them to rebound tonight against the hapless Reds in the battle of Ohio.
+120 Oakland over the Giants. Tim Lincecum was eradic against a hot hitting Phillies club, expect him to struggle against a gritty Oakland team who appears to be surging, led my Eric Chavez. On the flip side, perhaps the biggest surprise starter in the bigs this year, Chad Gaudin has been mowing through opposing lineups with Greg Maddux like efficiency. Look for this trend to continue tonight against the light hitting Giants, which will most likely be made lighter due to Barry Bonds' recent battle with shin splints. Look for this condition to plague Senoir Bonds for the duration of Interleague play.
+142 (Pick of the Day) D-Backs over Bosox. Arizona is possibly the most underrated team in baseball
(10 games over .500) The Red Sox have been hitting and fielding very poorly as of late, a trend that won't be aided by the loss of the DH. Also, Josh Beckett has reached the point in the year at which he has begun to fade in previous seasons. I expect his numbers to come down earth, starting tonight in the desert. The D-Backs have won 4 consecutive series, including a sweep of the Phills in Philly, and 2 out of 3 against the Mets at Shea.
Outcome: RedSox get snake-bitten tonight.
+185 Jays over Dodgers. L.A.'s recent 10 games are showing the Dodgers to be what they are; old, injury prone, and highly overrated. Toronto has been playing much better of lately, however offensively it has either been feast or famine for the Jays. Dustin McGowan has pitched very well in his last two outings, earning victories against the Yankees and ChiSox. McGowan's overall numbers are skewed due to his first several outings. Brad Penny is obviously pitching very well, however is career E.R.A. is 3.95, while this year it is 2.37. Bottom line: Penny's E.R.A. is going to climb upward. I like the Jays at the price of +185 tonight in L.A. |
