Fletcher's Corner 18-5 here in last month - not too shabby. Time is running out on our Early Bird Baseball Special. You get all sports and all plays we have from now until the last pitch in the World Series. NO URL'S FLETCHER YOU HAVE DONE THIS MORE THAN ONCE for more information.
The first game we like Saturday is Philadelphia to topple the Cubs. The Phils took an easy one on Friday, but Saturday could be a different story. Nevertheless, there are some things you have to like about the Phils. The most impressive is well traveled starter Freddy Garcia. Garcia is coming off his best start of the year - 2 runs, 5 hits, and most importantly 0 walks, in his last state versus the DBacks. Another thing to like is Garcia's domination of the Cubs in his four appearances against them. Freddy has gone 4-0 with a sparkling o.60 earned run average. On the other side we have Angel Guzman for the Cubs. He is 0-0 with an earned run average of only 2.19. Pretty impressive, huh? Well, it looks that way but I would remind you that Guzman had an enormous 12.19 earned run average in Triple A ball. That does not bode well for the Cubbies. We like the Phillies in this one.
The second matchup we like for Saturday is another National League contest. In this one, we will take the Astros over the Dbacks. We never feel comfortable playing on Houston because they just don't seem to score runs. No matter how good your pitching is, you must put some points on the board to win. But good pitching is always a factor when Roy Oswalt goes for the Astros. Oswalt comes off a strong game versus the Reds, allowing two runs in seven innings, both home runs. Oswalt is 5-0 with an era of 1.64 over 6 career starts against the Diamondbacks. Here's hoping that Oswald can shut down the Arizonans and the Astros can put enough runs up to win it.
