MLB Detroit vs. Saint Louis
Take Detroit Tigers
Last night's rain out leaves us with the same pitching matchup as yesterday for Game 4 of the World Series and I'll stick with my original pick of the Tigers. After batting .297 in the AL playoffs and winning seven of eight games (averaged 5.5 RPG), the Detroit bats have fallen silent. Let's give the Cards' pitchers some credit too, as the Tigers have batted just .185 in the 2006 World Series (.154 with RISP), while scoring a total of just five runs! Down 2-1 in games, they will face the red-hot Jeff Suppan. However, I'm not "buying-in" to Suppan. He was brilliant aginst the Mets in two starts (15 IP / 5 hits / one ER) but I expect the Tigers to "wake up" in this game. Detroit has not played like the better team so far but the Tigers are the better team! Bonderman may just be the team's best overall pitcher (Rogers only pitches well at home!) and the Tigers have won both of his postseason starts in 2006 (3.00 ERA). He has pitched well down the stretch (he's 4-0 since September 15 with a 3.13 ERA / team is 5-1) and I fully expect him to pitch well here. The two teams have alternated wins so far in the series and I see that continuing tonight. The Tigers (with a win) ensure that this year's World Series will return to Detroit on the weekend.
