Phillies -170 (ML) vs Nationals
Phillies - 1.5 (RL) vs Nationals
Myers is pitching better than Ortiz right now. I like this matchup for that reason and the fact the Phillies are hitting better than the Nats also. Myers is 4-0 with a 2.45 ERA in his last six starts, including a six-hitter Wednesday in a 6-2 win over the Cubs. The right-hander is 2-1 with a 7.52 ERA in four starts against the Nationals this season and 2-0 with a 4.76 ERA in four career outings at RFK Stadium. Ortiz fell to 0-3 with an 8.27 ERA over his last three outings after surrendering five runs and eight hits over five innings in a 7-3 loss Wednesday to Atlanta. He allowed two homers for the third straight start. Ortiz is 0-2 with a 12.91 ERA in two starts against the Phillies this year.
Brewers -107 (ML) vs Cubs
Milwaukee closed out its home schedule with five consecutive wins -- a victory over St. Louis and a four-game sweep of San Francisco -- to finish 48-33 at Miller Park this season. It's the Brewers' best home record at the park since it opened in 2001 and the team's best home record since 1992, when it went 53-28. Villanueva has proven to be an effective starter and will look for another strong performance when he takes the mound for Milwaukee on Tuesday. Since being recalled from the minors Sept. 11, the 22-year-old rookie right-hander has allowed one run and five hits in 13 innings. He beat Washington 5-2 on Sept. 15, giving up one run and two hits in six innings of relief for his first major league victory. Villanueva then started Wednesday against St. Louis in place of the injured Tomo Ohka and threw seven scoreless innings. Marshall looks for his first victory since July 5 when he starts for the Cubs on Tuesday. The rookie left-hander has gone 0-2 with an 8.65 ERA in six starts since, and also spent time on the disabled list with a strained left oblique muscle. Since being activated from the DL on Sept. 1, Marshall is 0-1 with a 9.72 ERA in four starts and lasted less than five innings in three of those outings. He allowed six runs in 3 1-3 innings against the Phillies on Sept. 18. He holds an 11.45 ERA over his last three starts.
D'Backs -124 (ML) vs Giants
Webb is looking to grab hold of the Cy Young award and a victory tonight would help his cause. He could become the first Cy Young award winner to win the award with team in last place since Roger Clemens did it with Toronto way back when. Webb has performed well down the stretch, allowing just four runs and 12 hits over 25 innings in his last three outings while walking only one and striking out 19. The right-hander lost at San Diego last Thursday, when he allowed three runs and five hits in seven innings but Arizona suffered a 3-1 defeat. Morris looks to turn around what has been a miserable September when he takes the mound for San Francisco. The right-hander is 0-4 with a 9.27 ERA and a .351 opponent batting average in four starts this month. Morris gave up a season-high nine runs and nine hits in 4 1-3 innings of last Thursday's 9-4 loss at Milwaukee. He also walked three and hit two batters. This is the third time this season -- Morris' first in San Francisco after signing as a free agent last December -- that he has lost four consecutive decisions.
Comments, complaints, etc. always welcomed.
GREAT LUCK TO ALL TONIGHT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
