Greetings to all,
See what you think of the following.
Twins +120 (ML) vs Red Sox
I really don't understand why this line is listed the way it is. Every once in a while you come across a line that you feel should actually be the opposite and that is the way I feel on this line tonight. I don't see much advantge the Sox have in this contest to put them as the favorite other than just home field advantage. In his last three starts Bosner has pitched over 300 pitches and only allowed 5 earned runs and has dropped his ERA to a miniscule 2.37. Yes Schilling pitches well at home (3.47 ERA) but he holds a current 6.37 ERA total over that same span and has allowed 14 runs. Minn is hitting a nice .313 against righties compared to .251 for the Sox and are scoring over 7 runs a game compared to just over 4 for the Sox. The Twins, of course, have a little more to play for. The season seemed to be slipping away from the Twins in July, but they now have a chance to take over the top spot in the AL Central. Schilling, trying to win 15 games for the eighth time in his career, has lost his last three decisions. The 39-year-old right-hander gave up six runs and 11 hits in 5 1-3 innings in a 7-2 loss to the A's in his most recent outing. Remember, he is still fighting the injury to his side and Francona said he probably won't go more than 80 pitches tonight for that reason.
Cardinals -125 (ML) vs Brewers
I like the fact we have a veteran pitcher in Suppan going up against a pitcher in Villanueva who has been called up from the minors 3 different times this year. Villanueva did look good in his last start against Washington but he still holds close to a 5.00 ERA and is going up against Suppan who over his last three holds a nice 1.35 ERA. He is 12-2 with a 3.53 ERA in 19 appearances -- 18 starts -- against the Brewers. He last lost to them April 8, 2004, and is 6-0 with a 1.97 ERA in nine starts, including three this season, against Milwaukee. Suppan allowed three runs in seven innings of Friday's 14-4 win over San Francisco. He's 6-2 with a 2.23 ERA since the All-Star break and 3-0 with a 1.04 ERA in his last five starts. The Brew Crew are only hitting the ball at a diminutive .231 average and are barely getting just over 3 runs a game over the plate. The Cards are averaging 6.32 runs a game over the same span.
Mariners vs Rangers Under 10.5
Baek allowed only 1 run in 6 2/3 innings (1.35 ERA) in his lone road start. He's also 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA in two starts vs. the Rangers, having allowed zero earned runs in 15 innings. Meanwhile, Tejeda has a 1.35 ERA against the Mariners, allowing one earned run in 6 2/3 innings of a 3-2 loss. He also has a miniscule 0.44 ERA his last three starts. The 'under' was 2-0-1 in those games. After yesterday's wild 9-7 affair, expect to see much better pitching this evening. Seven of the Rangers last 10 have gone under the total.
A's -175 (ML) vs Indians
A's - 1.5 (RL) vs Indians
The A's have turned things around since the break......like they always do. The Indians (70-80) have lost six of eight. The A's will hand the ball to Loaiza (10-8, 4.83 ERA), who has won six of his last eight starts. The 12-year-veteran right-hander has held opponents to two or fewer runs in six of his last seven starts, including on Friday against the CWS when he allowed two runs and three hits in seven innings of a 4-2 win. Cleveland sends Carmona (1-9, 6.03) to the mound for his sixth start of the season. The 22-year-old rookie right-hander made three starts in April before moving to the bullpen. Following a horrendous stint as a closer during which he blew three consecutive save opportunities, Cleveland sent Carmona the minors. When he returned on Sept. 5, the Indians again began trying him in a starting role. The A's are out hitting the Indians by a .295 to .251 average and are scoring just over two more runs a game.
Comments, complaints, etc. always welcomed.
GREAT LUCK TO ALL TONIGHT !!!!!!!!!!!!
