Ran really short on time and did not play or post anything on Friday. It actually felt good to have a day off from baseball. I think with football here, even though I am winning in bases, I am losing the urge to play, so if I suddenly get out, you will know why. I want to start devoting a lot of time to college football in the next couple of weeks. Anyway, on to Saturdays action.
Cincinnati +128 vs. Phillies (3 units)
I really dont like the guy pitching for the phillies today. RHP Scott Mathieson (1-3, 5.40 ERA). The phillies were very luck to win last nights game coming back in the 8th and 9th innings and finally winning in extra innings. I really dont thing Mathieson belongs at the major league level yet. I would rather see Gavin Floyd brought back up, or I wish they would have kept Cory Lidle. My gut tells me the reds come through with a win today. Sometimes the phillies seem to play a little tight in front of the home folks.
Dodgers -150 vs. San Fran (3 units)
.The dodgers were in last place in the nl west a couple of months ago and was looking pretty bad
.now look at them. They have been the hottest team in baseball. We get their allstar starter Penny throwing for them today, they are at home and I feel this is a pretty fair price for all of that. The Giants are still alive, but I am not impressed with them at all. The dodgers are simply the better team and should win this game, maybe even rather easily.
Arizona -150 vs. Florida (2 units)
.This is a play on Webb. If he does not start, this is a no play. I like the way Arizona is playing and Webb has been fantastic all year long. Sometimes I make plays just because it is that simple, not much thinking involved. This is one of those plays.
San Diego -120 vs. Houston (2 units)
..The nl west teams seem to take turns going on little winning or losing streaks, what a great race it is. I think it is time for the pads to string together a few wins. Even though he is not having his typical season, I have always been a Jake Peavy fan. This is also just a play on him and if he does not go, it is a no play like the above game.
Minnesota -104 vs. Toronto (1 unit)
..The twins seem to be struggling a bit lately. They still have a great home record and I am going to take them based on that. How often do you get a great home only laying 104? Not very often. I could see it if they were facing a top notch pitcher, but they are not. Good value with the twins today.
Detroit +102 vs. White Sox (1 unit)
.Sox playing a little better than they were, but I have to take the tigers with Rogers on the hill. What is so impressive about the tigers, and many people do not realize this, is they have such a great home record, but their record on the road is even better. I did not even realize that until today. I will try the tigers as a dog. It is worth a shot.
There you go, six more selections. I hope my good luck continues. I think I am just one losing streak away from giving up bases. I may even give it up if I continue to win. I am just so ready for football, especially college.
