Default Who improved the most at the deadline?

I like what the Mets did, since they lost Sanchez their setup guy to a season ending injury (car accident). Hernadez did well last year and getting him back along with Perez who was nasty at one point was a good move.

Yankees got the steal of the deadline trades.

Texas made the worst move IMO.

Thoughts?
Ryan

I know one thing for sure it is not the Phillies
I am sick and tired of this team
year after year I always here that "this is there year" and it's the same thing every year

I know jillmark would agree with me but how much more of this can a "fan" take
BFD
we had a world series in 1980
and two apperances, one in 1983 and in 1996
but come on they do not even compete o a yearly basis
but back to the topic of the thread the you have to like what both NY teams did maybe Abreau will get out of his funk now

I really liked what the Braves did by getting Wickman, although he was their main move, he will really shore up the end of bullpen giving the Braves a shutdown man in the 9th. Look for the Braves to possibly win the NL wild card over any of the NL West teams or the Reds.

Ryan, IMO what Texas did was not all that bad. Your first instinct may be to say that it was because they hadn't been playing well as of the deadline. However, they were able to pick up a needed power boost with Carlos Lee due to the low power numbers across the lineup. Also, they got the youngster in Nelson Cruz and only gave up Mench (good player, but always mentally in the game), Cordero (blown save waiting to happen) and Nix (minor leaguer). Then, they were able to grab another bat with Matt Stairs and a steadily improving Kip Wells to throw into a struggling rotation. To get these two, average minor leaugers were given up. So, don't write off the Rangers who I think will turn it around and win the AL West.

regarding Mench, I meant to say "not" always in the game which should be obvious if you've ever seen the Rangers play

A couple of things. I also agree with ryan and premium that the yanks had some good deadline moves. Despite their pitching staff not being what it usually is I believe the Yankees will end up winning the east over Boston. But Smart Guy as far as the rangers go they have no chance. Expect the angels to win the west.

The Cincinatti Reds had the best trade Deadline. The weakest part of their team prior to the deadline was their relief. They did not make big trades but ended up strengthening their bullpen with Eddie Guardado and Kyle Loshe. Guardado will be a great addition certainly in late relief or closing. The Reds have cleaned up their only weakness and they are going to win the NL Central over St. Louis.

I actually think the Rangers made some of the best moves.

My votes:

Best-Rangers
Worst-Phillies, trading Abreu, getting zilch in return, and paying Abreu 1.5 mil just so they could trade him.
