Greetings to all,
Hope everyone had a Great and Safe Fourth of July. A couple of plays today see what you think.
Padres -133 (ML) vs Phillies
Philadelphia (38-44) has won just six of its last 23 games, and has fallen 10 1/2 games behind first-place New York in the NL East -- the largest deficit of any second-place team. Peavy, who led the NL with 216 strikeouts last season, has 109 this season, but has already surpassed his loss total in 2005, when he went 13-7. He is 2-1 with a 2.18 ERA in three career starts against Philadelphia. The Phillies will counter with Mathieson (0-2, 6.75), who will make his third career start, and is still in search of his first win. Mathieson allowed five runs, five hits and three walks in 2 2-3 innings before exiting due to a 41-minute rain delay in a 12-5 loss to Baltimore on Wednesday. The 22-year-old right-hander has allowed nine runs and 13 hits in 8 2-3 innings in his two starts, and he has never faced a NL team.
Mets -1.5 (RL) vs Pirates
Wanted the ML but too high, promised myself would no play games over 200, or at least try not to. Anyway. "Wells" and his 15.79 ERA is about all you need to say in this one vs. arguably one of the best teams in baseball. Nough said. After missing the first 2 1/2 months of the season following surgery to repair a blocked artery in his right arm, Wells (0-3, 15.19 ERA) will try again to get back in the win column. Wells, who led the majors with 18 losses last year, has failed to get past the fifth inning or allow fewer than five runs in any of his three starts. Against Detroit on Sunday, he lasted a season-low 2 1-3 innings and gave up seven runs and six hits. Opponents are batting .408 against Wells this season.
Comments, complaints, etc. always welcomed.
GREAT LUCK TO ALL TONIGHT !!!!!!!!!!!!
