Slowly but surely, Red Sox left-hander David Wells is catching up to everyone else in his return from right knee surgery. Boomer, who pitched in a simulated Minor League game on Thursday, will make his Grapefruit League debut in Tuesday's home game against the Devil Rays. He is expected to throw between 50 and 60 pitches. The Red Sox have their only off-day of Spring Training on Monday. They'll be right back at it Tuesday against the Devil Rays at 1:05 p.m. ET, with Wells starting and top prospect Jon Lester coming on in relief.
The Rays travel to Fort Myers on Tuesday to play a 1:05 p.m. ET contest against the Red Sox. Right-hander Doug Waechter will start for the Rays and will be followed by righties Chad Harville and Tim Corcoran and left-hander Wayne Franklin
