Default Al East Dog Fight? My Predictions

Al East might be the toughest division this year.

Yankees as always reloaded, but still and old team.
Red Sox will be there.
Blue Jays have put together a good team and will need Halladay to stay healthy.
Orioles still need pitching.
Drays - well someone has to finish last.

With 3 good teams and 1 ok team, I think we will only see the division winner make it to the playoffs and the Wild card come out of the Central like the Indians or White Sox one wins the division 1 doesnt.

So here is my fearless prediction on the finish:
Yankees win the Division by 2 games. It breaks my heart.
Toronto comes in second with halladay winning the CY young.
Red Sox take third 5 games back
Orioles .500 season
Drays win less games this year than last about 51 games.

Thoughts, Complaints?
Ryan

finally, a realistic mets fan.

only disagreement here is by how many yanks clinch. i think more like 5-6 or so...

p.s.: not to be a d.ick or anything, but in nl east, i dont think the mets are a lock as many on the bandwagon seem to think this yr. u just cannot write off the braves. wild card tho is within the realm of possibility. tho finally i dont see the mets going to the conference series, much less the fall classic...sorry, thats my honest opinion. u can ban me from the forum now.

BANNED!!! LOL JK

Yankees can win by 5 or more if there pitching staff stays healthy. Pavano is already having more problems, Randy & Mussina are older. Can the rest of the staff pitch do what they did last year? Alot of ifs but all possible.

Mets I dont think are a lock its the Braves division till somebody beats them. Hopefully this year Phillies are no walk over either. Marlins have lost alot but Joe I think will be a great coach.

pavano is a coward and mental case and noone wants him. but regardless of him, the rest of the gang is in good shape and we're taking it all this season. i said it.

as for nl east, it will be braves or, slight chance, mets. not the phillies, and most def not the marlins. joe girardi is a great, intelligent bball man (and urs truly much prefers him over clueless joe torre), but even hes no miracle-maker. (see: piniella, lou-dray mgrship)

I dont think wild card is out of the ??. Also if injuries mount for any team they could be the suprise of the East.

agreed.

then again, the jays too could fall victim to injuries (halladay, burnett-to name only two).

I would be surprised if the Yanks finished above 3rd, while I am bias the pitching is getting hold and the relief is suspect if they don't hit for every win they will fall....
