Default Devil's Advocate Wednesday

Thought I would start a thread showing why you should take a side or go against a side, I am going to show you both sides of the coin for both sides of a couple of games and tell me which one you agree with:

Cleveland vs Detroit

Take the indians because they are closing in on the white sox who lost this afternoon and if they acn win they close the gap to six games and taste the title. They have won 8 out of ten and have stud Lee on the Hill who is 14-4 on the year with a era of just 1.71 in his last three starts, and if he falters a poen that is among the best in the bigs.

Take the Tigers because

The visitor has dominated this series to the tune of 5 out of the last 6 and nine out of the last 14. The tigers face Lee but the hammer lefties and hit them 23 points better overall than righthanders. In game two of a series is when the tigers are at the best winning 25 out of 42 and are 16-7 after a loss in game one. The tribe faces Maroth who has his best numbers on the road the tribe has trouble with lefties and the Tigers have won his last 5 out of 6 starts against thee tribe and he has only given up more than 2 runs in those starts once!

So who you taking?

************************************************** *******

Baltimore vs Toronto

Take Baltimore because they are starting the better pitcher, look at Chen's numbers compared to Chacin and he beats him in the last three in EVERY category to include wins as the jays have lost Chacin's last three starts. They jays pen is horrible and has an ERA over 9 in the last three outings so the O's will be able to tee off on the pen and get some hits to support Chen. The O's have won 12 out of 20 as an underdog in Toronto and should win this one tonight.

Take the jays because They are at home and the O's are a woeful 1-9 in the last ten and on a losing streak dropping 5 straight! The O's struggle against lefties hitting less overall, in the last ten, and on the road and are in a cloud of media scrutiny with Raffy and can't wait for the season to end. Chacin is not pitching well but puts up his best numbers at home and has not given up more than two earned runs against the O's all season long. (3 starts) Finally When TORONTO played as Home team Vs BALTIMORE - Total is between 8.5 and 9.0 they are 12-3 !

So who ya taking?

************************************************** *****

St. Louis Vs Florida

Take St. Louis because trends, trends, and more trends...When ST LOUIS played as any Home/Road team - Coming off a 1 run lost - During the 2005 season they are 15-4 in the last 19....When ST LOUIS played as a Road team - Vs. Left handed pitchers - During the 2005 season they are 16-5 in the last 21 and When ST LOUIS played as a Road team - 3rd game of a series - During the 2005 season they are 13-6 in the last 19. Those trends cannot be ignored.....

Take Florida becausethey are at home and give the ball to the solid pitching Vargas who has made people take notice of late. He is 3-1 at home and has an ERA of just 2.55 his lowest in any situation and the cardinals have never faced him which means he will get 3 innings to get through the lineup once for anyone to get a second look. SUppan's teams have lost 2 out of his last 3 starts against the fish and he has looked shaky against them in the past. Finally the umpire is a homer and home teams have won five out of the last six he has worked behid the dish.

So who you going to take?

Who I would go with and why

Detroit +155

Okay it is a strecth with the way the tribe has playing and they had to see the sox lose this afternoon, but if Detroit is going to win one in this series this could be it. They hit lefties well and Maroth pitches well on the road and against the tribe, a nice price to take a swing at.

Blue Jays -1.5 +155

Forget the O's they are in a mental mess with Raffy and his ear plugs making news and the season is out of reach. There is nothing to play for or look forward to in Toronto. Chen has pitched well but the Jays play well at home against the O's with this total and Chacin should return to form.

St. Louis PK

How many times can you get the cardinals in a pick at home? Vargas looked hittable his last outing and if this game stays close the cardinal pen is wwwaaaaayyyy better than the Marlins.

Best O' Luck tonight!!
