American Bettor Sticking With Pinnacle? Back when legislation was passed outlawing American residence from gambling online, I became worried that my favorite, long-time, online sportsbook (Pinnacle) would lock me out. I withdrew 90% of my balance; keeping 10% for seed. I also changed my mailing address to Toronto, ON Canada.
After Pinnacle made their announcement on 01/11/07, I decided to test the waters and place a bet. It went through! My next precautionary step will be to match my Neteller mailing address to that of my Pinnacle mailing address. I don't know if I'll be able to make a successful deposit/withdraw in the future; but my attempt will be made with caution.
I even wrote Pinnacle an anonymous email, asking what measures they'd take to be certain US residence weren't still gambling under bogus account information. They replied with the following...
"If you are resident in a different country, you will be required to submit proof of residency, which corresponds to your Banking Information. We will also be blocking all U.S. internet access once all outstanding US customer withdrawal requests have been honored and you will not be able to wager from the United States."
I suppose Pinnacle could easily see from a client's ISP, which country they are from. Although, I use DirecWay (satellite Internet) which is widely used in North America. I'm keeping fingers crossed that Pinnacle will keep loop-holes out there. Why wouldn't they?? If their clients are misrepresenting themselves, that wouldn't be there problem!
If I get busted, can someone suggest a good sportsbook which takes $1 bets? |
