I don't think anyone considers the Yankees a contender. Wang their ace, would be third or fourth in the rotation on many other teams. Mussina is pending retirement. Mariano is one of the oldest and yet most overworked closers in baseball, his arm is guaranteed to fall off this year. Petitte is the only pitcher on the staff that is more than an experiment. How does a team with a 250 million dollar payroll have such an inferior pitching staff?
