another writeup on the game...
Dwayne Wade owned New Jersey during last spring’s playoffs when Miami swept the Nets into summer vacation. A year later, the Nets again face the same problem when they open the second-round of their postseason party on Monday at Miami.
Wade flew by, over and past New Jersey on the baseline, getting the Heat to the second round as Shaquille O'Neal limped around on a bad thigh in all four games.

The Nets' chief defensive weakness was again exposed despite their opening round series win over shorthanded Indiana. Anthony Johnson outscored Jason Kidd, 120-48. If he can do that, just imagine what Wade will do. He twice went for more than 30 points against New Jersey in the 2005 playoffs, averaging 26 points per game and shooting a blistering 58 percent.

Defense will have to carry the Nets. That's their blueprint, even when Vince Carter is at his scoring best. But who is going to guard Wade. It can't be Kidd, who never looked older than he did in the Pacers series.

New Jersey will enter the showdown with confidence after beating Miami in three of four regular season meetings. The lone loss was a one-point affair at Florida in the club’s fourth game of the season. If it's true that the Nets have nobody that can guard Wade, the Heat is in a similar pickle when it comes to Carter.

New Jersey's personal highlight film averaged 38.5 points per game against Miami this season, including a 51-point explosion in the Nets only series road win.

The Heat, after scraping by in the opener as 2 1/2-point favorites, fell short in the return match as nine-point home favorites, 95-88. New Jersey won both clashes at the Meadowlands, the first as three-point dogs, 105-92, and the rematch as seven-point favorites, 90-78.

Miami cashed in its final two meetings with Chicago in the opening round en route to a 4-2 series victory. That was the first time the Heat had 'covered' two straight games since they got the green in four straight from Feb. 12-22.

Most offshore books opened Miami as a 4 1/2-point favorite in Game 1, with the total set at 190. The Heat are $1.75 favorites to win the best-of-seven series with New Jersey listed as $1.55 dogs.
