According to published reports, the Baltimrore Ravens have filled one of their most pressing needs, agreeing to a four-year contract in principle with former Broncos running back Mike Anderson.

Anderson will ink a four-year, $8 million contract that includes a $2 million signing bonus. The deal will be finalized later this week, and it's likely Baltimore will also look to the NFL draft to bolster its running game.
The Ravens lost backup running back Chester Taylor when he signed a $14.1 million deal with the Vikings on Saturday. Starter Jamal Lewis probably will leave the Ravens as well as an unrestricted free agent. There have been some discussions geared toward keeping Lewis with a contract extension, but the two sides remain far apart. In a strange twist, the Broncos appear to be one of the teams Anderson could sign with, and he could meet with Denver this week.

Anderson is a two-time 1,000-yard rusher and was released by Denver last reason for salary cap purposes.

While with the Broncs, Anderson played in 74 games, with 51 starts. He rushed 865 times for 3,822 yards and 36 touchdowns. In addition, he had 79 catches for 647 yards and five scores.

Anderson played for Utah in college and was a sixth-round choice in the 2000 draft. He was the league rookie of the year in 2000 when he rushed for a 1,487 yards and 15 touchdowns.
