The Florida International Golden Panthers lift off against the Toledo Rockets in the 14th edition of the Little Caesar’s Bowl. The latest college football odds for this game has the Rockets listed as just one point favorites with the total set at 56.
This bowl game is a huge accomplishment for the Golden Panthers. Florida International makes its first ever appearance in a bowl game. Quarterback Wes Carroll leads the Panthers and is having a superb year, but the playmaker on this team is T.Y. Hilton. He is the main weapon on offense and doubles as a special team’s threat. Hilton led the Panthers in all-purpose yards with 1,879 and scored nine touchdowns in total on the year.
Toledo makes a return to the bowl scene after being absent from the college football post season for the last five years. Toledo is usually led on offense by signal caller Austin Dantin but an injury sidelined him for the last three games of the season. Freshman Terrance Owens took over and offered a combination of speed and agility in the quarterback role. Danton may be ready to suit up for the bowl game and the starter will be announced soon. Whichever player takes snaps under center the main target will be standout wideout Eric Page. Page led the team with 94 receptions for 1,081 yards and 8 touchdowns.
The Rockets are 10-21 against the spread (ATS) in their last 31 games following a win, 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games after allowing less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game, and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game.
The Rockets are a quality team but the edge in this game goes to the Panthers. The Panthers have Hilton on special teams and that will allow the team to take advantage of great field position. They will leave it all on the field in an attempt to bring home the first bowl win in the school’s history.
