The Fiesta Bowl looks like an upset as the Oklahoma Sooners battle the Connecticut Huskies. The latest college football odds for this bowl game have the Sooners listed as a whopping 17 point favorite with the total set at 55.
The Huskies won the Big East championship to earn a BCS bowl game and the right to play against the Oklahoma Sooners. However they are getting no respect, based on an 8-4 record and a 2-4 record on the college football highway.
Despite the four losses the Huskies are very pleased to be playing in a BCS bowl game for the first time in program history. The rushing game of the Huskies should not be overlooked as they are led by junior running back Jordan Todman. He averaged 143.1 rushing yards per game and that ranks second in the country.
On defense, senior linebacker Lawrence Wilson led the Big East with 115 tackles and will wreak havoc on the football field in this game, if he is not accounted for.
The Sooners are led by Bob Stoops and have a National Championship Pedigree to go along with the 11 wins they posted in the season. That is just one of the reasons the Sooners could be thinking this will be an easy victory, and that is a big mistake.
The Huskies have some very interesting sports betting trends in their favor for this game. The Huskies are 36-16-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last 53 non-conference games, 4-0 ATS in their last four games as an underdog, and 20-6 ATS in their last 26 games overall.
The Sooners are 2-5 ATS in their last seven neutral site games as a favorite, 1-5 ATS in their last six non-conference games, and 0-4 ATS in their last four Bowl games as a favorite.
The Sooners will take the Huskies lightly and that could result in one of the biggest college football upsets in bowl game history.
