Cotton Bowl
January 7th
Arlington, Texas
The Cotton Bowl continues its rich bowl tradition, when the LSU Tigers and the Texas A&M Aggies battle for bragging rights. The latest college football odds for this bowl game have LSU posted as one point favorites with the total set at 49.
The game between LSU and Texas A&M used to be one of the fiercest rivalries in all of football. The series spans 111 years, although the teams have met only 49 times in that stretch with LSU holding a 26-20-3 edge. It may not have the same intensity for this game, but it will bring up memories of great games past. Expect fans to turn out in droves for each side as both schools gobbled up tickets literally minutes after they were sold.
LSU and Les Miles had a decent year, but a late loss to Arkansas and playing in the same division with Cam Newton hurt this team. Miles has been to this venue before and is looking forward to the atmosphere. "I've been here before as a head coach, so I know firsthand what a first-class bowl this is. The hospitality is second to none, and the atmosphere is no different than if you were playing in the national championship game.” Miles said.
Miles might have to pull off another miracle to get this win as Stephen Ridley will be sidelined due to an academic violation and he was LSU’s best runner, while the Aggies will be fully loaded for this game.
Quarterback Ryan Tannehill took over in mid-season and has been a standout for A&M from the start. Their run defense is vastly improved this year improving from 4.6 yards per carry allowed average to 3.3 yards per carry. The Aggies have the edge coming into this game.
The Aggies are 5-0 ATS in their last five games following a win and 6-0 ATS in their last six games overall. The Tigers are 1-4 ATS in their last five games as a favorite and 1-4 ATS in their last five non-conference games.
The Aggies are in better position to get the win and renew the rivalry with the Tigers.
