Week two in college football kicks off this weekend with plenty of great games to choose from. For the recreational college football betting fan it’s tough to go through the big schedule and choose which games could bring back a profit.
That is why each week I will release my Super Six for the weekend in college football. It will highlight six games on the college football schedule that are worth betting on with an explanation that features the latest odds and sports betting trends.
Here is the Super Six for week two in college football.
Alabama vs. Penn State
The Alabama Crimson Tide is one of the top teams in college football and they will be in the National Championship conversation all year long. In week two they travel to Penn State to take on a determined Nittany Lions team. Both teams play multiple quarterbacks so the offenses could produce an even result, but the real edge is on defense.
The Tide is huge up front and Penn State will not be able to run against a front line that held Kent State to -9 yards rushing a week ago. The Crimson Tide are 7-0 ATS in their last seven non-conference games and they beat and cover against a Penn State team that falters in big games.
Alabama -10
South Carolina vs. Georgia
Georgia was exposed last week as the defense was torched against Boise State. The Gamecocks started slow against East Carolina, but won big in the end. Aaron Murray is a talented quarterback for Georgia, but they are still over matched in this game. The Bulldogs are 6-13 ATS in their last 19 games following a loss and will struggle in this game. It is tough to beat any SEC team on the road but the Gamecocks are far more talented and don’t mind running it up.
South Carolina -3
Notre Dame vs. Michigan
The Fighting Irish were upset in week one against South Florida and ND fans are starting to panic. Now they head to play Michigan in the big house under the lights for the first time ever. Michigan won in week one, but the game was a bit deceiving. Michigan gave up plenty of yardage and combine that with this trend. The Wolverines are 11-27 ATS in their last 38 games overall and the Irish are looking to win big.
Notre Dame -3.5
Ohio State vs. Toledo
Ohio State made a statement in week one and won big, despite missing several players suspended for NCAA violations. Now they will face Toledo and they may get caught napping. The Rockets rushed for 287 yards and used three quarterbacks to gain almost 600 yards of offense in week one. They will face a different defense in week two, but this game will be closer than the experts think. The Rockets are 4-0 ATS in their last four games in September and lose, but keep it close.
Toledo +20
BYU vs. Texas
The Texas Longhorns host the BYU Cougars with their future in doubt, as the Big 12 looks like it will be dismantled very soon. In week one Jake Heaps was impressive in the air for the Cougars, but with a limited rushing attack, they needed defense to win. Texas had a blowout win over Rice. Malcolm Brown led a successful ground attack for the Horns, but this game will be abut defense. The Longhorns are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games as a favorite and with two teams good on defense, taking the points is the way to go.
BYU +7
Mississippi State vs. Auburn
Auburn had to rally in week one to beat a mediocre team and so they may have their hands full in week two against Mississippi State. This line is a perfect example of the public reacting to just one game. This line should be much lower, but after a bad performance the world is counting out the Tigers. Gene Chizik still has a very good team and this team will be ready to play. The Tigers are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games as a home underdog of 3.5-10.0 and could easily win this game.
Auburn +6
