The second bowl game of the season will put the Central Florida Golden Knights up against the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers in a medieval matchup.

Rutgers ended the season on a disappointing note as they lost to West Virginia. A win in that game would have given them a higher placement in the Big East and perhaps a better bowl game. This bowl game will put the Rutgers kids in a tough predicament.

This is tough for Rutgers because wideout Tim Brown will be iffy at best with an ankle injury and if he plays he will not be 100%. That is just the start of things as it also provides problems with preparation and academics. The game — played on the first day of the 34-game bowl season — makes for a quick turnaround. It also falls in the middle of final exams.

“It’s a little different than last year because it really amounts to about a bye week with preparation,” Schiano said. “We’re going to play in no time flat. The decision came, we had to change some things that were planned.

“Academics, there are challenges with final exams and papers and things. Recruiting. We’re finishing up recruiting this weekend. We actually have recruits in here right now. We actually have coaches who are on the road this week, so we’re going to have to make some adjustments.” This good make for a long day for Rutgers.

For Central Florida they are very excited about this bowl game. In fact they wanted Rutgers. "I wanted to play Rutgers," UCF DT Torrell Troup said. "They're a very physical team up front, and I wanted to get after it. It's going to be a lot of fun."  UCF will also be bringing more fans than Rutgers and experience in this game. WR Rocky Ross expects a large UCF contingent at the bowl game. "Hopefully we can get a lot of UCF fans down there," Ross said. "It's right in the middle of Florida, so it should be good weather and easy traveling. UCF fans have no excuse not to go to this game."

Torrell Troup said the Knights will learn from their last bowl appearance, a 10-3 loss to Mississippi State in the 2007 Liberty Bowl. "I was excited to be in a bowl game, and I kind of treated it as more than just a game," Troup said of that 2007 game. "A lot of guys that played in that game have that experience now. I think we're going to be ready."

UCF is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games as an underdog and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games following a S.U. win. They will be ready for this game and they will win it!

Bowl Pick: Central Florida +1
