4* Interleague *BEST BET* on Red Sox -138
After losing the first two games of this series, expect the Red Sox to hit the field with an increased sense of focus this afternoon.
Boston has long been a quality investment in interleague play. In fact, the Red Sox are 70-25 in their last 95 interleague games as a favorite and 51-19 in their last 70 interleague home games. The Nationals, meanwhile, are 9-23 in their last 32 interleague road games. Plus, we can't forget that the Nats are just 4-10 in the last 14 versus the Red Sox, including 2-6 in the last 8 meetings in Boston.
Lester's season numbers don't look as good as Zimmerman's, but Lester is still the starter more capable of delivering a gem. He has been brilliant in interleague action too, and the Sox are 14-5 in his last 19 interleague starts as a result. Boston is also 9-1 in his last 10 starts versus the NL East.
vs. National League East.
The Nationals are 5-12 in Zimmermann's last 17 starts in the third game of a series and 1-4 in his last 5 starts following a Quality Start in his last appearance.
Boston has the better offensive lineup, and I believe the bats will come alive here. Lester will take care of the rest.
