Padres over Phillies- I guess it was unlucky number 13 that helped the Padres defeat Philadelphia after 13 straight home losses to the Phillies. Philadelphia just doesn't appear to be the same champion caliber club as injuries and the lack of power at the plate has taken it's toll. The Phillies have scored only nine runs in their last five games and will send the weak-link in their pitching staff to the mound today in Joe Blanton (1-2, 4.26 ERA). He has allowed 37 hits in 29 innings while yielding to a .314 average. San Diego's Anthony Bass (0-1, 3.38) get the start and Bass has only allowed seven hits in his 9.1 innings of work. Take PADRES!
