Joe D'Amico's NCAAB MAC Game of the Year
Kent State vs. Akron,
03/15/2013 18:30 EDT,
Score: 59 - 62
Point Spread: +6/-105 Kent State
Today's winner is Kent State over Akron. This is my MAC Game of the Year.
Alex Abreu's suspension immediately turned Akron's world upside down. But remember that the team was at full strength in the first meeting, when they were losing by 10 points at halftime, before foul trouble forced Kent State to sit their starters and eventually lost (as a 9-point 'dog) 68-64, but was in control every minute. Kent has won 6 in a row and 8 of their L9 SU, going 7-2 ATS. Evans, Holt, and Brewster can score, but the recent surging of Goodson (13.2 PPG L5) has played a big part in the teams success. Even before Abreu's absence, Akron was slipping, failing to cover 5 of 8 with Abreu and now hold a 3-6 ATS mark their L9. The Zips are 2-6 ATS their L8 games played vs. the MAC and 1-4 ATS their L5 games following an ATS loss. The Golden Flashes are 6-2 ATS their L8 games played against teams with a winning percentage of .600 or better and 5-2-1 ATS their L8 games played vs. the MAC. Take Kent State. Thank you.
