6* Monday NHL EDM/CHI
Edmonton vs. Chicago,
02/25/2013 20:30 EDT,
Score: 2 - 3
Money Line: +174 Edmonton
The Chicago Blackhawks host the Edmonton Oilers on Monday. Chicago is coming off a 1-0 win over Columbus, while Edmonton beat Phoenix in a shootout their last time out, 3-2.
While the headlines from Sunday’s game against Columbus show that Chicago was able to continue their streak, a closer look shows that the Blackhawks were actually out-played by a lousy Blue Jackets team.
Chicago was outshot 28-27 by a Columbus team that they ordinarily dominate. The last team that they want to see heading into town for the second night of a back-to-back is Edmonton.
The Oilers scored 21 times in the final three meetings between these teams last season, winning each contest to take the season series, 3-1. The Oilers are happy to finally get back veteran goaltender and former Blackhawk Nikolai Khabibulin.
He’s posted a 1.89 GAA and a .942 save percentage since taking over for the struggling Devan Dubnyk. The team’s leading point-getter, Sam Gagner, has recorded four points in his last four games. He racked up nine points in his final two meetings with Chicago last season.
The Oilers are 4-1 in their last five games against Central Division opponents, and have won three in a row against the Blackhawks. Take Edmonton.
Good Luck, Razor Ray?
