Anaheim & Detroit under 5.5

The Detroit Red Wings host the Anaheim Ducks on Friday. Detroit dropped their last outing to St. Louis in overtime, while Anaheim is coming off a 3-2 shootout win over Chicago.

Bruce Boudreau is remembered for having coached one of the most exciting offensive teams seen in years when he was in Washington, so it’s understandable to expect him to bring that style of game to Anaheim with players like Ryan Getzlaf, Corey Perry, and Bobby Ryan at his disposal.

However, it’s easy to forget that Boudreau implemented a trap in his final year in Washington. Now in Anaheim, Boudreau’s Ducks have been an under machine, playing under the total in eight of their last 10. Goaltender Viktor Fasth has posted a 1.74 GAA.

The Red Wings were slow to adjust out of the gate, playing for the first time in 20 seasons without top defenceman Nicklas Lidstrom. The team only had a shortened training camp to implement head coach Mike Babcock’s system, so those lessons didn't immediately take effect.

The Wings are starting to right the ship, as they allowed only four total goals in the three games they played prior to their meeting with rival St. Louis.

Goaltender Jimmy Howard stopped 54 of 56 shots in two starts against Anaheim last season, posting a shutout and a 1.00 GAA.

These teams have played under the total in five of their last six meetings. Take the UNDER.

Good Luck, Razor Ray
