The Tampa Bay Lightning host the Washington Capitals on Thursday. Tampa Bay is coming off a 4-3 loss to Montreal, while Washington beat Florida their last time out, 6-5.

The Capitals were slow out of the gate, in large part due to the quick start to the season which gave new head coach Adam Oates little time to put his systems in place. Now the team is starting to roll, scoring 11 times in their last two games, both wins.

One big contributor has been another new face in the organization, Mike Ribeiro. Ribeiro has been red hot, notching four goals and five assists over his last five games.

Getting Alex Ovechkin going doesn't hurt either. The speedy winger enters this game on a three-game goal streak.

The Lightning had one of the best records in the NHL through eight games, but they have the schedule-makers to thanks for that as they played six of those eight games at home to begin the season.

The team has fallen back to Earth since, having lost five in a row and allowing at least four goals in each of their last three contests.
