4* Main Event Major on Seattle -3

Both Seattle and Washington finished the year hot, but the Seahawks were dominating teams and the Redskins were winning close ones.

The Seahawks finished the year winning by an average margin of 25.7 to 15.3 while the Redskins margin was 27.2-24.2. The 7 points more per game that Seattle won by is more telling to me than there one additional victory. It's more about beating the teams that you should beat by a lot than it is about winning the close games. When games are decided by a touchdown or less, there is some luck involved. When you beat teams by scores of 58-0, 50-17, and 42-13 to finish the year, you aren't leaving much doubt who the better football team is after the game.

A lot has been made of RG III and the credit is deserved, but Russell Wilson has been solid as well this year. He is completing 64% of his throws for 7.5 yards per attempt. I know this is a run-first team behind Lynch and they gain 4.8 yards per rush, but when defenses stack the box Wilson makes them pay.

Both offenses are above average and capable of winning games, but the Seattle defense is superior to Washington's. The Redskins are allowing 61.8% of opposing passes to be completed for a 7.1 yards per attempt. Seattle on the other hand is limiting opponents to 58% and 5.7 yards per attempt.

Both of these teams had great years and each franchise you'll see in the playoffs for years to come, but the way Seattle closed out the season, especially with their big win over the 49ers, has me thinking they are the better team. I'll lay the small number as they should win on Sunday.
