The Golden Hurricane didn’t let that loss to the Cyclones spoil their year. Tulsa followed up that defeat with 7 straight wins and would go on to win the Conference USA Championship. The fact that Tulsa isn’t a much bigger underdog in this matchup is reason to believe oddsmakers feel like the Golden Hurricanes will have the edge in the rematch.

You have to believe Tulsa is the more motivated team in this matchup. While the Golden Hurricanes will be extremely excited to get an opportunity to get revenge on the Cyclones, it’s hard for me to believe Iowa State is going to be pumped up to play a team they already beat by 15-points.

The big key for me in this matchup is that Iowa State will be without starting linebacker Jake Knott, who was lost after the 8th game. Knott was the team leader in solo tackles, despite missing a number of games and Cyclone defense really struggled without him. Iowa State allowed 30.5 points and 529.5 ypg over their final four games, including a horrible 225.2 ypg on the ground. Tulsa is 15-4 ATS in road games when they rush for 200-250 yards since 1992!
