Joe D'Amico's NCAAF Bowl Consensus Play of the Year

Iowa State vs. Tulsa, 12/31/2012 15:30 EDT, Score: 17 - 31

Point Spread: +2/-102 Tulsa

Sportsbook: 5Dimes

Result: Win

Monday's winner is Tulsa over Iowa State. This is my Bowl Consensus Play of the Year.

When these teams met September 1st, Tulsa's Cody Green made his first career QB start. At the same time, 260 lb RB, Singleton (who eventually went on to score 21 TDs) had only three touches in the game. UT's offense has since become well-balanced. The backfield trio of Watts, Douglas, and Singleton have combined for 2581 YR and 31 TDs. Receivers, Garrett and James give nightmares to opposing defenses. Iowa State is 90th in Total "O" and 99th in Total "D". The team lost standouts, Johnson and Knott to injuries and maybe without OL Burris (check status). Tulsa's "D" is #3 in sacks with 48 while their OL has only yielded an impressive 9 sacks. The ISU run game was shaky but now without top-rusher, Johnson, they are in real trouble. The more experienced, healthier, and revenge-minded UT squad gets the money here. Take Tulsa. Thank you.
