The Yellow Jackets’ 10-42 loss to Georgia last week was a much closer game than the final score would indicate. They registered 26 first downs and 426 total yards, outgaining the Bulldogs by 47 yards, but simply struggled in the red zone. A big reason that Florida State is favored by two touchdowns here is due to Georgia Tech’s lopsided loss last week, which wasn’t really lopsided anywhere other than the scoreboard.
Florida State is going to be without arguably its best player on defense in DE Cornellius “Tank” Carradine. He tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee last week against Florida. Carradine led the team with 80 tackles and was second with 11 sacks.
Georgia Tech has played well against Florida State in recent meetings. It has won two straight with a 49-44 road victory in 2009, and a 31-28 home victory in 2008. The Yellow Jackets have gone 2-0-2 ATS in their last four meetings with the Seminoles overall.
The Yellow Jackets had been playing their best football of the season leading into that game against Georgia last week. They had gone 3-0 straight up and 3-0 ATS in their previous three games, beating Maryland, UNC and Duke all by 18 points or more, and two of those victories came on the road.
Florida State is 0-6 ATS off 1 or more straight overs this season. The Seminoles are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Yellow Jackets are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 conference games. Georgia Tech is 4-1 ATS in its last 5 games after scoring less than 20 points in their previous game. Bet Georgia Tech Saturday.
