4* MISSISSIPPI ST/OLE MISS SEC BLOCKBUSTER ATS SMASH: Ole Miss -1.5
The Rebels gave LSU all they could handle this past weekend. While Mississippi ended up losing the game 35-41, they just as easily could have pulled off the huge upset. Ole Miss went into the 4th quarter of that game leading the Tigers 28-20 and were tied up until the final seconds when LSU scored the game-winning touchdown with just 15 seconds to play. It was the same LSU team that crushed the Bulldogs 37-17 a week earlier.
Ole Miss has really came alive under first year head coach Hugh Freeze and junior college transfer quarterback Bo Wallace. The Rebels are currently sitting at 5-6 overall with a 2-5 record inside the SEC. It might not seem like much, but it’s pretty impressive considering they won just two games all of last season and were just 1-15 over the last two years inside the conference. The huge turnaround has been a blessing for those that have backed Freeze and company against the number this season, as the Rebels are 8-3 ATS.
This is clearly a big game for both teams considering that it’s such a big rivalry game, but the Rebels are the team that really has something to play for this week. With a win over Mississippi State, Ole Miss would become bowl eligible for the first time since 2009. This team is going to do whatever it takes to get a win and you have to like their chances.
While Mississippi State may seem like the more polished team given their four conference wins. Those four victories have come against teams who are a combined 2-26 in SEC play. Three of them were against teams who haven’t won a single conference game. The Bulldogs three losses against Alabama, Texas A&M and LSU came by a combined 66 points. Ole Miss also loss to those same three opponents, but by a total of just 27 points. I don’t think there is any doubt that the Rebels have played the better football this season. BET OLE MISS!
