I expect a very low scoring game in Saturday's highly anticipated showdown between Stanford and Notre Dame. Both of these teams thrive on the defensive side of the ball, and their offenses really aren't anything special.

Stanford has scored 50 points twice this season, but those efforts came against two horrible defenses in Duke and Arizona. In their three other games they have not scored more than 21 points.

The same can be said for Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish put up 50 on a bad Navy defense and just 41 on a horrible Miami defense. In their three other games they failed to top 20 points.

Prior to giving up 48 points to a very talented Arizona offense, Stanford hadn't allowed a single opponent to top 17 points and that includes USC.

Notre Dame hasn't let a single opponent top 17 points all season. They haven't allowed an offensive touchdown in three straight games, and that includes two games against a couple of high-powered offenses in Michigan and Miami.

Neither team has much success throwing the football. Notre Dame is 80th in the nation, averaging just 211 passing yards/game and Stanford is 60th at 230 yards/game. I expect both teams to play conservative and kill the clock with the running game. Wouldn't be surprised at all if this game finished in the 20's! BET THE UNDER!
