He does have Gary Stevens on him and the shorter distance could aid him, as he should be stalking right behind the pace setters. The sets up good for him here and even though he did lost lengths in the stretch we right there at the to while running into the 4th fasted 3 quarter splits in derby history and finished the best of all the horses in front tof them who set those fractions, Not as good as the top one but can get 2nd or 3rd here.





#3 Goldencents, at 8/1, finished 17th in that sloppy Derby run 2 weeks ago. He galloped home over 40 lengths behind in what amounted to nothing more than a long workout after getting caught up front in blazing fast early fractions with Palace Malice. He was just pulled up to gallop in the stretch and will likely be near the front once again and should give a much better showing for himself on a fast track. Had their not been a plethora of horses that appear ready to duke it out with him on the lead, we may have had him on top. He has solid numbers prior to the Derby and won in fast times at Santa Anita. May very well get 2nd or 3rd here
